One Gold and two Silver medals for "Edoardo Miroglio" winery
Concours Mondial de Bruxelles
18 Bulgarian winemakers received 37 medals at the World wine competition Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The awards - 14 gold, 22 silver and 1 trophy were presented at a ceremony in the Council of Ministers by the Director of the competition Thomas Kostenobal and Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev.
Bulgarian wines are honored among 8,000 different types of beverages from 58 countries
"The wine is not just a product. When imposing native cellars abroad, we sell quality of life, image and confidence. We are selling part of the taste of Bulgaria. With great success which you all achieved here, you put Bulgaria on the wine map of the world. And this picture sometimes is more important than geographical and political maps, Donchev said to the participants who won in the wine competition. They were greeted by Minister of agriculture Desislava Taneva and Minister of tourism Nikolina Angelkova.
The wine celler "Edoardo Miroglio" received a gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for itss bio wine Edoardo Miroglio Bio Mavrud & Rubin 2013. Furthermore, the cellar was honored with two silver medals for Edoardo Miroglio Chardonnay 2014 and Edoardo Miroglio Elenovo Chardonnay 2013.
"With over 300 wine cellars, our country has unique opportunities for development of wine tourism," said Minister of tourism Nikolina Angelkova during the awarding ceremony of the Bulgarian companies. During this year's championship Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Plovdiv was chosen as a host for the next event in 2016. "This will focus the attention on the most important vinegrowing areas in the country - the Thracian lowland and on Bulgaria as a preferred destination for wine tourism," the minister added.
World Wine Championship Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has a long history. More than 320 tasters (sommeliers, wine experts, journalists) from 53 countries are part of the jury. From 2006 Concours Mondial de Bruxelles expands its international scope and is held outside Belgium. Till now, the event has welcomed as hosts - Lisbon, Maastricht, Bordeaux, Valencia, Palermo, Luxembourg, Guimarães, Bratislava and Jesolo. 23rd annual edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will take place in Plovdiv from April 29 to May 1, 2016, and competition`s program will be accompanied by a number of initiatives. "Until the contest in Plovdiv will be organized a series of events witch purpose is to highlight the importance of Bulgaria as a wine-growing country on the world map", said Deputy Mayor Stefan Stoilov, who attended yesterday's ceremony.
